[Eden Gold] What are your “5 things I wish someone told me when I first started” and why?
1 . It’s okay to say no or pass on a gig. Maybe cause you’ll tear up your voice if you sing for 4 hours straight 2–3 nights a week. Or maybe because you’re a man of your word and already committed elsewhere. It’s okay to say, “I’d love to but I can’t on that particular date.”
2. Save every contact, and start networking as soon as you can. It’s like money. Start saving as soon as you can. The sooner you start the better off you’ll be. Relationships are everything on the business end of a music career.
3 . Do an authentic thing, and people will be interested. Not everybody, but your people.
4 . Write more. Not just songs. Learning to write is learning to think, and as your writing improves, so does your thinking.
5 . Play with people. I spent a lot of years playing solo, and I did enjoy it, but there is a lot of musical development that can only happen in a group setting. The give and take, iron sharpens iron, etc.

Anthony emphasizes that his East Texas upbringing in a musical family (church services with his father leading worship and mother on piano) shaped his values of authenticity and hard work, which he carries into every song and business decision.
